Marmolada - the queen of the Dolomites
At the foot of the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, Rocca Pietore offers amazing glimpses thanks to its little hamlets full of history and culture, like Sottoguda, with its little artisan shops. The natural canyon of the Serrai di Sottoguda, ideal place for pleasant walkings between overhanging rocky walls, leads directly to the Marmolada Cable Car, which in three daring leaps is an easy access to the highest top of the Queen. From the panoramic terrace at Punta Rocca, it's possible to enjoy a 360° landscape and the glacier just below you. Places immersed in the history, overwhelmed by the World War which left its marks all around: shelters and tunnels carved in the rocks by the soldiers. The new Museum of the Great War, the highest in Europe, together with the " Carlo Delcroix" Multimedia Centre down in Sottoguda, give a full sensory experience.
